The year that was

Technology continued to be a major influence on the lives of most people in 2007. Social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace keep growing in popularity, as does the virtual world of Second Life. The business sector is increasingly embracing Second Life, although criminals are also staking their territory in this online realm. Cybercrime in its various forms also continued to grow during in 2007. Mobile internet is still an emerging technology, although usage is growing while prices are falling. Technophiles embraced Windows Vista, Macintosh's Leopard operating system and Apple's iPhone, which will be released in Australia in 2008.
