Christmas comes early for price-comparison sites

Online price comparison websites are expected to take custom away from Australian retailers in the Christmas 2007 shopping season. Getprice MD Chris Hitchen says traffic on his site has already increased. The company charges retailers $A0.35 per referral. Retailers such as Dick Smith Electronics have already introduced their own campaigns to compete with online rivals. Phil Hassey of Springboard Research says one of the biggest obstacles for online retailers is Australia Post's "default monopoly" on parcel delivery.
