logoEbay_x45.gifIn the area of electronic commerce, eBay has dramatically evolved between its founding in 1995 and 2007. In the three months to 31 December 2005, eBay had total merchandise throughput of $US12 billion, which rose 20 per cent to $US14.4 billion in the same three months to 31 December 2006. In the fiscal year ending 31 December 2006 the Nasdaq-listed group had net revenue of $US6 billion ($A6.5 billion), or 31 per cent more than its 2005 revenue of $US4.6 billion. Acquisitions such as shopping.com, Skype and PayPal have also increased the e-commerce brand's level of trust for purchasing safety and fraud detection and prevention.
