New AFP unit to catch crooks online

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has responded to the growing threat of internet crime by establishing a Science & Technology Strategic Unit. The technology R&D unit will have responsibility for the AFP's expenditure on technology and ensuring that its IT capabilities are sufficient to meet its requirements. The AFP and the Australian Crime Commission are both seeking to upgrade their IT capabilities.
